Description

Overview

The Type 590X Manifold Mount I/P Transducer converts a variable 4-20 mA electrical input signal into a low-flow, linearly proportional pneumatic output. Its compact size, light weight, and resistance to shock and vibration make it well suited for process-control valve positioner applications and dense panel installations.

Open-loop conversion technology and a low-mass magnet provide accurate pneumatic pressure control at an economical cost. The Type 590X can be mounted in any position and is designed to remain stable in high-vibration environments while resisting RFI/EMI interference.

The manifold-mount configuration places the inlet and outlet ports on a common mounting surface, simplifying integration into compact pneumatic assemblies. Available output ranges include 3-15 psig, 3-27 psig, and 6-30 psig, with FM and CSA approvals standard and optional ATEX and UKCA approvals.

The Type 590X Manifold Mount model is designed for low-flow pneumatic loads. Its flow capacity is equal to its air consumption and varies with supply pressure, making it especially appropriate for pilot and valve-positioner applications rather than high-volume actuator control.

How to Select the Right Configuration

Selecting the correct Type 590X Manifold Mount configuration depends on the required output pressure range, available supply pressure, ambient temperature, manifold interface, and hazardous-area approval requirements.

  • Select the 3-15 psig output for standard process-control valve positioner applications.
  • Select the 3-27 psig output when a wider pneumatic control span is required.
  • Select the 6-30 psig output for higher-pressure control signals.
  • Verify that the supply pressure is at least 5 psig above the maximum required output.
  • Use the manifold-mount model when inlet and outlet ports must interface through a common mounting surface.
  • Confirm that the low-flow output is appropriate for the connected pneumatic load.
  • Select the low-temperature option for ambient temperatures below -40°F.
  • Select the ATEX/UKCA approval option when required by the installation.
  • Use only clean, dry, oil-free instrument air filtered to 40 microns.
  • Add a separate volume booster when the downstream device requires substantially more flow.

FAQs

What does the Type 590X Manifold Mount I/P transducer do?

The Type 590X converts a 4-20 mA electrical input into a low-flow, linearly proportional pneumatic output pressure.

How is the manifold-mount model different from the ported Type 590X?

The manifold-mount model places the pneumatic inlet and outlet on a common mounting surface and is designed for low-flow valve-positioner and pilot applications. The ported version uses threaded pneumatic connections and provides higher flow capacity.

What output pressure ranges are available?

The Type 590X Manifold Mount model is available with 3-15 psig, 3-27 psig, and 6-30 psig output ranges.

What is the maximum supply pressure?

The maximum supply pressure is 150 psig (10 bar). Supply pressure must be at least 5 psig above the maximum required output.

Is the Type 590X suitable for high-vibration applications?

Yes. The unit is stable in high-vibration environments and has a vibration effect of less than ±1% at up to 10g and 20-80 Hz.

Can the Type 590X be mounted in any position?

Yes. It can be mounted in any position, with a mounting orientation effect of less than ±0.5% per 90-degree change.

What hazardous-area approvals are available?

FM and CSA approvals are standard. ATEX and UKCA approvals are available as an option.

Can the Type 590X operate in low-temperature environments?

Yes. The standard model operates down to -40°F, and the low-temperature option extends operation down to -67°F (-55°C).

What air quality is required?

The Type 590X requires clean, dry, oil-free instrument air filtered to 40 microns.
